Well actually any volation of the tou, eula, and RoC have a possibility for banning, but spaming at worst would be a temp ban (though I doubt they would go thru the hastle of it).

Seems a bit trivial, and besides so many do it anyway...
It'd be like trying to arrest EVERYONE who downloaded music illegally (scaled down of course)

Just turn off the All Chat and Trade Chat. That is what I do, plain and simple. If the district is not traffic heavy then I turn both channels back on. I only keep Guild Chat and Team Chat on. As for the Emote Channel I keep that off, period!

Actually, Gaile said that spammers in all chat will be taken care off. What that means, I don't know. But I suspect spamming becomming a banable offence, as it should be imo.

I think some seconds are added to the flood control. If spam would be bannable, LA and Asc City would become very lonely places.

It frigging well should be bannable, not perm obviously but temp for sure. Its getting RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing annoying searching through ToA for a group to FoW (europe owns you ) with some prick spamming 'WTS 6 ECTO=6k' every second in all chat. They seriously need to stop that sort of spamming.

LA and Ascalon would become nice places to be instead of places to avoid.

I for one dont know how they do it? I try and sell stuff in trade and if I try and the smae message out within 2minutes of ach other its surpressed? And thats even when I change what I say. Theproblem is all the bastard spammers make sure nobody sees my stuff as it flies straight off the window in 0.3 of a second.
Magmas shield anyone?

I agree that spamming is annoying, and that spamming sales in the public channel (not trade channel) is wrong. However, the primary problem here is that ANet *wants* peeps to sale stuff and have an active economy, but they still have not provided a simpler means. They have said time and again that an auction type facility will be provided. They have been saying that for a long time now, and we still do not have it. Until then, folks will go to whatever means to try and sell what they have.

Its not so bad when its the occasional normal person trying to sell something, but sometimes you get the chinese monk that turns up called something like "long nunu" and starts doing the usual "ect7kecto7kecto7k..01" "ect7kecto7kecto7k..02" "ect7kecto7kecto7k..03" "ect7kecto7kecto7k..04" in local chat.

the Rules of Conduct and the End User License Agreement clearly state that all forms of spam are not allowed and will lead to supsensions or bans.

you may call me uptight - but i reported several hundred people for the useage of inappropriate names, offensive behavior, spamming, scamming, ... and i will keep on hunting those who violate the RoC and EULA. X_x

how a.net takes action
for those who are wondering what you can do against all the ignorant jerks:

make a few screenshots
send in a report with all needed information (server, district, time, ...)
relax, you just made Tyria a better place for the rest of the community.

rinse and repeat ^^

ps: ignorant jerks are easily provoked to violate EULA and RoC even more. *g*

I first message them and ask them to quit, where I usally get about 10 buckets of profanity thrown at me...Usally having the asshole/noob/N00B/retard/etc assortment

Strikes me funny as hell that a 3.4mil exp mesmer that as not farmed outside of FoW runs is now considered "noob" but whatever.

Fact.
I agreed to the Eula, everyone else who plays GW agreed to that same Eula.

We should uphold that Eula as best we can; by any means necessary.

:reporting in game encountered (as in I was there during the occurence) scammers, spammers, and leechers as of Feb 1st 2006

Its not bannable, BUT u get "points" in your account information at A-nets servers. When u reached the "point" limit the account gets suspended for certain period. Read more on guildwars.com, its there, dont remember where, but its around EULA /User agreement/Rules of conduct.

'tis what most people mean when they say "ban". They hardly ever MEAN perm. ban.

Small offenses like these result in the minimum suspension, and then it scales upwards from there.
